Learn how to butcher with EatWild! We offer a comprehensive butchering workshop so you can build the confidence and skills needed to butcher an animal from the field to the table properly.

This workshop is for folks on their journey to be more connected to the meat they eat and how to participate and take responsibility for being part of that process.

If you are a hunter, a farmer or foodie, this workshop is for you.

This is a hands-on workshop, so that workshop participants will do the butchering with instructor support. Stay home, and let us know if you are not feeling well!

We maintain a food-safe environment by ensuring that all participants wash their hands throughout the workshop, that temperatures are cool, and keep all surfaces clean.

Children/teenagers are welcome as long as they can confidently handle a knife, and they will remain under your direct supervision.

In the first half of the workshop, we review field care techniques and we show you how to break down the animal into manageable size pieces so it can be transported back to camp.

In the second half of the workshop, we show you how to butcher the large pieces into meal-size offerings such as steaks, roasts, stew and burger.

Using a hog, we will demonstrate two separate techniques for breaking down an animal. A professional butcher will lead our group through a traditional butchers approach to the butchering of an animal using a butchers tools and techniques. You’ll learn how to butcher an animal into classic cuts, such as steaks, roasts and burger.

An experienced hunter from EatWild will demonstrate a traditional hunters approach to butchering an animal in the field. This will give students a practical approach to butchering with limited tools and supplies. This is a great opportunity to learn how you can butcher in your own kitchen!
